The Opportunity:

Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Group Finance Manager to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Group Finance Manager, you will focus on controlling all financial resources and ensuring that all financial transactions, systems, and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards. You will also be responsible for refining the current processes and adding a robust foundation for our standard operating practices at the group level. The position reports to the Senior Director, Finance and will be located in Toronto, ON.

What You’ll Do:

  • Controlling financial resources and ensuring that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
  • Prepare quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc reports.
  • Analyzing the organization's monthly financial statements with Finance Managers of each operating group and Sr. Director, Finance.
  • Refining of current processes and formalization of standard operating practices and empower team to implement efficiencies.
  • Providing support and expertise to Finance Managers of each operating group and help on day-to-day activities.
  • Preparing financial reports that may include auditor and financial analyst reports, profit and loss, balance sheets, and regulatory reports and filings.
  • Ensuring all sales tax reporting are filed on time and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Provide regular reporting on financing status, issues, and strategic consideration.
  • Support Senior Director of Finance with delivery items to internal and external auditors.
  • Organize plan resources from the team to ensure business continuity for operating groups.
  • Take on a critical role overseeing company’s daily operations by flagging any irregularities or financial discrepancies.
  • Plays a pivotal part in keeping a business's strategic and financial standing in check.
  • Be the subject matter expert and step in to support other finance managers when on vacation in the areas of Accounting, AP/AR, Reporting and Analysis.
  • Assist team with adhoc projects requested by management.

What You’ll Need:

  • Completion of a postsecondary degree in Commerce or Business Administration. A post graduate degree/designation (e.g. CFA, MBA, CPA) is required.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in progressively complex financial role.
  • Strong understanding of market conditions.
  • Strong communicator who demonstrates ability to focus communication to the needs of the audience and translate financial information to operational information.
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyze business results, identify and clearly summarize key issues.
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency (ability to prepare pivot tables, VLOOKUP formulas, etc.)
  • Works independently and with the team, displaying an intellectual curiosity that can create process efficiencies and drive improvements for the team.
  • Able to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in an environment with a high volume of activity.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
