Job Description
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Chief Financial Officer position located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB . Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Chief Financial Officer has a critical role in developing and implementing the financial strategy of the MMF. The CFO is responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the MMF, in conjunction with the governance, finance, corporate, audit and investment responsibilities of the MMF. Develop finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations; • Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; • Maximize returns on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities; • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; • Control and evaluate the MMF’s fundraising plan and capital structure; • Perform risk management by analyzing the MMF’s liabilities and investments; • Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field; • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting is an asset; • Minimum seven years progressively responsible experience in a senior-level finance position; • Experience analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections; • Experience and best practices in accounting systems, budgets, cost controls including GAAP; • In depth knowledge of financial laws and risk management practices; • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset; • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. health, dental, vision, pension, and vacation.
