Process HVAC Solutions Canada is looking for a well-qualified person to join a growing company as an Instrumentation and Automation Technician.

What you bring to the table

1. Ability to perform and manage point-to-point wiring checkout.
2. Verification of proper installation of instrumentation and end devices.
3. Ability to calibrate, troubleshoot and start-up field instrumentation, valves, actuators, etc.
4. Perform all aspects of checkout and start-up of controls systems (DCS, PLC, others), networks and field instrumentation.
5. Efficiently troubleshoot control systems at the network, controller and I/O level.
6. Set-up and troubleshoot PC workstations, provide data backups of workstations.
7. Assist with support of customer contracts for 24/7 emergency response and preventive maintenance.

Essential skills and qualifications to be successful

1. Bachelor’s degree or D.E.C. in engineering (mechanical, electrical or electro-mechanical preferred) with 3 or more years of relevant experience.
2. Hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, HMI and/or DDC systems; experience with Emerson’s DeltaV, WonderWare, and Rockwell is a plus.
3. Working knowledge of networks, especially ethernet, Modbus and bacNET serial/TCP.
4. Strong computer hardware troubleshooting and Microsoft OS knowledge.
5. MEP/Construction experience and work with other trades.
6. Will be able to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams and other electrical and mechanical drawings.
7. Will be able to work with minimal oversight.
8. Strong communication skills and ability to interface in a professional manner with clients, other contractors and within PHS.
9. Communication skills, written and verbal, in French.
10. Written and verbal communication skills in English would be considered an asset.
11. Ability to travel, overnight to customer sites – job is 50% out-of-town work.
12. Ability to support occasional on-call duty on a rotating weekly basis.
13. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
