Location: Muskoka

Overview:

As a Private Camp Counsellor, you will be crucial in creating a positive and memorable experience for the children in your care. Your primary responsibilities will include

providing guidance,
ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children and
organizing and leading various recreational activities.
You will serve as a role model, mentor, and friend by fostering their personal growth and encouraging a sense of wellbeing.

We are looking to hire 1 Camp Counsellors (18+ years of age)

Schedule:

Seasonal position from July 12 to August 18.

Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9 am to 3pm

Pay:

$20 - 30 hour

Responsibilities:

Plan and lead outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and educational outings.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children.
Be a positive role model and mentor.
Communicate with family regularly.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times.
Supervise the children during daily activities, meals, and rest periods.
Monitor behaviour and intervene when necessary to maintain a positive and inclusive environment.
Activity Planning and Instruction:
Organize and lead various recreational activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, nature hikes, swimming, and confidence-building exercises.
Develop age-appropriate activity plans and adapt them to suit individual needs.
Provide instruction and guidance to the children, promoting skill development and teamwork.
Leadership and Role Modeling:
Serve as a positive role model by exhibiting exemplary behaviour, values, and attitude.
Foster a sense of community, inclusivity, and respect.
Encourage the children to develop independence, confidence, and positive interpersonal skills.
Behaviour Management:
Enforce rules consistently and fairly.
Address behavioural issues promptly and effectively, using appropriate disciplinary measures.
Communicate with the parents regarding any concerns or behavioural challenges.

Qualifications:

Experience working with children.
Passion for outdoor activities and creativity.
Strong communication skills.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Life Guard Certified or Strong Swimmer
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education, recreation, or related fields is preferred.
Enthusiasm, patience, and the ability to inspire and motivate children.
Ability to work in a one-on-one or one-on-one environment and communicate effectively.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to handle conflict and challenging situations.
Physical stamina and the ability to participate in various outdoor activities.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment.
Driver's licences preferred.
