JOB SUMMARY

The Food & Beverage Purchasing Manager is responsible for working closely with the Food & Beverage leadership team in managing and optimizing costs related to Grouse Mountain’s direct and indirect purchasing. The role oversees purchasing food, beverages, dry goods and other items related to multiple outlets including Altitudes Bistro, The Observatory, Grouse Grind Coffee Bar, Lupins, Banqueted events and other seasonal outlets. This person will lead a team of Storeroom employees and implement best practices, vendor sourcing, inventory control and pricing strategies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage
  • Manage the daily operations of the Storerooms
  • Procure supplies from approved vendors and suppliers within established limits and guidelines on quality, quantity and price
  • Work closely with culinary leadership and support them with menu design
  • Maintain relationships with external company partnersand suppliers
  • In collaboration with F&B leaders, responsible for overall food and beverage costs within the department
  • Oversee inventory counts and reporting
  • Maximize efficiencies by monitoring cross usage of products interdepartmentally
  • Direct the movement of supplies across the resort (including but not limited to the Base, Chalet, Mountain top and individual F&B outlets)
  • Manage the Hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of staff members
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all Storeroom areas
  • Control of labour costs, liquor cost and associated expenses
  • Work with employees to sustain a healthy and positive work environmentand build a strong sense of team
  • Working within progressive disciplinary guidelines
  • Monitor staff to ensure top performance and administer probation and annual evaluations
  • Process payroll duties in timely manner and accordingly to pay period schedule
  • All other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position provides direct supervision to the Storeroom operation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum three years of high-volume purchasing experience
  • Previous F&B purchasing experience preferred
  • Excellent rapport with local and national F&B suppliers
  • Excellent leadership, communication, customer service and organizational skills through a strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders in a respectful and enthusiastic manner by email, over the telephone and in person.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate duties amongst a team, with a focus on safety.
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude, with the ability to thrive in a high-volume, challenging environment.
  • Experience scheduling staff to maintain labour targets
  • Strong skills with Restaurant Management Software; Microsoft Outlook; Point of Sale Systems preferred
  • Food Safe certification
  • Valid Serving it Right
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Available for five days per week and to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends, and holidays

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Food & Beverage Purchasing Manager will perform some of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, shoveling and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary from $60,000 to $75,000 per year
