This role offers an opportunity to create meaningful learning experiences for student trainees, meet the socioeconomic needs of the province, and learn and grow through contact with diverse stakeholders.Position Type: Term to March 2026Location: Any NBCC Campus locationSalary Range: $55,640 to $77,818 per annumOverview of the Division: The College Office of Research Enterprise (CORE) meets the socioeconomic needs of the province through innovation. We de-risk Research and Development (R&D) for small- and medium-sized enterprises and public and not-for-profit sector clients. We provide R&D for NBCC academic Schools and support units. We create R&D training opportunities for NBCC students.CORE supports its own nonfaculty researchers as well as students and faculty across all NBCC academic Schools in conducting applied research. "Applied research" occurs when students use their training and researchers and faculty use their expertise to investigate an opportunity or solve a problem for an industry or community partner. The supports CORE provides include:Networking and facilitating meetings with prospective industry and community partnersDeveloping applied research projectsSecuring provincial and federal funding for equipment, materials, and salary (faculty course release and nonfaculty researchers and student research assistants salary)-in the amount of over $3 million per fiscal yearReporting research outcomes and key performance indicators to funding bodies and to NBCCs Academic Division Leadership Team and Senior Executive Team.QualificationsEducation/Experience:The minimum educational qualification for this position is a two-year community college diploma in a relevant field, such as business administration. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with industry.Experience within the post-secondary education sector and working with a wide variety of clients.Experience and knowledge of research funding policies and procedures and research project processes.Occupational experience that includes working in an academic setting, with work-integrated learning, or project management would be considered assets.Professional Skills:Proven ability to work and achieve objectives within a complex administrative framework.Excellent time management and organizational skills that enable the incumbent to prioritize effectively, manage a high volume of work, and meet multiple conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proven ability to exercise initiative and good judgement as well as support change.Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate internal and external guidelines, policies, and practices to research teams and other key stakeholders, including internal departments and external industry and community clients.Demonstrated ability to work well with others and handle difficult situations tactfully using a collaborative/consultative approach to ensure effective and productive working relationships.Proven analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.Customer service orientation, with demonstrated problem-solving ability as well as a keen eye for detail and producing high-quality work.Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and strong writing and editing skills.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Applied Research Development Lead, the Faculty-Industry Research Liaison Officer is responsible for promoting research opportunities among NBCCs teaching faculty and students. They will support faculty and students in developing, conducting, and reporting on applied research projects. They will serve as the primary CORE point of contact for faculty and students with industry and community partners in need of their expertise. They will work with other units of the college to incorporate applied research into academic programming. They will give guidance to faculty, students, and industry at the proposal stage, facilitate project kick-off meetings, and monitor faculty, student, and industry experiences throughout.In this role, you will be responsible for:Industry Engagement: Supports faculty in setting up faculty-led applied research projects involving students. Opens contact with stakeholders (industry and community partners, faculty/Coordinating Instructors/Academic Chairs/Deans). Ensures resources are in place to support the project and liaises with Facilities as necessary for faculty-led project development.Facilitation: Facilitates "communities of practice" working group among Deans, Academic Chairs, Coordinating Instructors, the Experiential Learning Unit, and CORE to learn more about faculty and student needs and share COREs nonfaculty research outcomes with the College. Designs meaningful, sector-relevant learning objectives and training experiences for students when developing co-curricular research assistantship training plans and funding applications, informed by "communities of practice" working group.Individual Project Facilitation: Coordinates faculty-led research projects. Submits purchasing requests for approved faculty-led project expenses.Liaising: Coordinates discussions between Professional and Part-Time Learning, Director of CORE, and Applied Research Development Lead regarding micro-credential opportunities arising out of /alongside CORE applied research projects.Reporting: Works with NBCCs Institutional Research and COREs Applied Research Projects Manager to collect data on faculty- and student-led projects for reporting.Showcasing: Helps design Summer Institute, Open Lab Days, and other showcase events, with Applied Research Development Lead and the CORE Administrative Assistant.A culture that is focused on nurturing a sense of belonging for all employees.A competitive salary range of $55,640.00 to $77,818.00 annually.Become a member of the New Brunswick Public Service Pension Plan.Opportunities for professional development and training.NBCC supports the wellbeing of its employees.
