Role Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Court and Justice Services Division, the Executive Director, Court of Justice Operations (CJO) will provide strategic leadership and support the planning and delivery of Court of Justice Operations. As the Executive Director, CJO with a focus on service excellence, you will provide advice to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Court and Justice Services to inform decisions on key priorities and directions. Applying a systems approach, you will work with your team to drive and influence development of new business processes to meet the evolving needs of the Court and the Albertans it serves. You will be accountable for leading a complex and large court operational area with seventy two locations across the province. Collaboration and trusted relationships with the independent judiciary, Service Alberta, Technology and Innovation, the legal community, law enforcement agencies, and various other partners and stakeholders, will be critical as you champion enhancements and innovative practices in CJO. You will also ensure that the Court and Justice Services systems and processes are efficient and responsive to the needs of Albertans by working with system partners to modernize processes and leveraging technology for Justice Digital, to create a more user-friendly access to justice services. As a strong strategic planner, you will generate efficiencies for government, the courts and stakeholders by leading the CJO team to implement a modernized justice system and delivery transformation by shifting away from paper-based systems. You will improve access by implementing online services for the public, the judiciary, staff and stakeholders to bring the Court of Justice Operations to a technical platform. You will also collaborate with stakeholders, including the judicial branch of the Alberta Court of Justice to develop and implement a provincial operational model and framework for excellence in court operations. Qualifications Extensive related senior management experience leading complex operations in a large, service-oriented organization is required. You are a result driven and agile leader, skilled at anticipating evolving business needs, implementing innovative processes, and influencing organizational change. You have successfully triaged and managed competing priorities and have experience in strategic negotiation, project management, change management, and performance management. Your experience leading significant human resources, managing fiscal resources, and facilitating communication both within the organization and with external stakeholders will be vital in this role. You understand the issues impacting court administration services and knowledge of federal and provincial statutes and regulations related to the work of court services. A law degree and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta is required. Thorough understanding of relevant legislation will also support your success in this role. Salary $198,978.31 - $261,494.60 ($7,623.69 -$10,018.95 bi-weekly). Notes The office is located in Edmonton. Travel within the province will be required as part of your responsibilities as Executive Director. Travel will be (up to 35%) and a valid driver’s license is required . This role will require the successful candidate to work on-site. This role does not support a hybrid work schedule.
