Position Overview:As an Environmental Technician specializing in soil management for our Ontario-based waste division, will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while implementing sustainable and efficient soil management practices. The responsibilities will revolve around assessing, monitoring, and managing soil quality and contamination levels within our facility, with a focus on mitigating environmental impact and maximizing resource recovery. The incumbent will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions for soil treatment, remediation, and reuse, contributing to our companys commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:Soil Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive soil assessments to evaluate contamination levels, composition, and quality using appropriate sampling and analysis techniques.Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant environmental regulations and guidelines, ensuring adherence to provincial and federal standards for soil management and disposal.Soil Remediation Planning: Develop remediation strategies and action plans for contaminated soil areas, utilizing appropriate technologies and methodologies to achieve effective and sustainable outcomes.Waste Minimization: Identify opportunities for waste minimization and resource recovery within soil management processes, promoting circular economy principles and sustainable practices.Collaborative Project Management: Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, and regulatory agencies to execute soil management projects efficiently and effectively, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze soil monitoring data and prepare comprehensive reports documenting soil quality, contamination levels, remediation progress, and regulatory compliance for internal and external stakeholders.Technology Implementation: Evaluate and implement new technologies and techniques for soil treatment, remediation, and reuse, driving continuous improvement and innovation in soil management practices.Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict health and safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment during soil management activities.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, or related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management, with a focus on soil assessment, remediation, and management.Strong understanding of Ontario environmental regulations and guidelines related to soil management and waste disposal.Proficiency in soil sampling techniques, laboratory analysis, and data interpretation.Experience with project management principles and methodologies, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges.Certification or training in relevant areas such as hazardous waste management, soil remediation technologies, or environmental risk assessment is a plus.Why work with YORK1?Our employees are essential in helping us achieve our mission of providing exceptional service and innovative solutions through our infrastructure and environmental services to some of Ontarios largest commercial and residential projects.
