Job Description

As a result of our continued growth and project success, Mott Macdonald is excited to be looking for an Environmental Lead to join us and lead environmental management, planning, design, monitoring and reporting across our projects in British Columbia and Alberta.

This a senior level, high profile role where the successful professional will be responsible for developing and establishing the team leadership strategy to promote team growth, development and technical excellence.

Acting as the Environmental Lead, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing client relationships and developing opportunities for Mott MacDonald’s environmental services.
  • Providingtechnical support in client, stakeholder and public consultations; act as technical expert and provide advice and solutions to meet the client’s requirements.
  • Assumingresponsibility for project delivery including time, cost, co-ordination and stakeholder management.
  • Directly participating in the oversight of project teams responsible for environmental scope of services including:
    • Site environmental management plans and associated documentation;
    • Authoring and reviewing of various environmental regulatory submittals (Environmental Compliance Approvals (air and water), Permit to Take Water, Endangered Species Act Permits, etc.);
    • ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management System development, implementation and maintenance;
    • Regulatory consultation (MECP, MNRF, DFO, etc.), environmental inspection, erosion and sedimentation control plan development, excess soil management, contamination management, ecological and urban landscape design integration, and site specific endangered species mitigation.
  • Preparing proposals, cost estimates, and staffing plans for environmental projects and services

Education, skills and experience to succeed in this role includes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution. A master’s degree would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an environmetnal professional working on infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in the permitting of large-scale projects.
  • The ability to prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize problems and define and evaluate solutions.
  • Motivation with a customer focus including experience in business management and strategic business development.
  • A proactive, results-oriented outlook coupled with exceptional teamwork and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Successful experience in large, complex multi-disciplinary projects will be an asset.

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $150,000 - $190,000 per annum.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
