Job Description

Reporting to the VP Quality and Safety, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for the development of policy and procedures associated with safety programs, with a focus on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Aviation Occupational Health and Safety (AOHS). The EHS Coordinator will work together with the Quality and Safety team and company managers to maintain program compliance and create and amend associated policies, procedures and training.

The individual will demonstrate and provide leadership in continually developing a strong company safety culture and robust processes associated with hazard identification and risk management in all areas of the organizational.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

· Chair program-related meetings and safety committee level meetings

· Create and amend program policies and procedures as required

· Liaise with regulatory agents regarding OHS/AOHS/Environment and lead corrective actions associated with OHS/AOHS/Environment

· Work with Quality and Safety Department to develop and continually improve program associated training.

· Lead the provision of organizational communication regarding OHS and AOHS

· Perform accident and incident investigations at the discretion of manager

· Understand current legislation, codes of practice, bulletins and other safe work practices and recommendations

· Assist in tracking monthly department safety inspections

· Manage SMS reports specific to Environmental, OHS, WCB and WSIB incidents and work with the applicable managers as required

· Participate in industry committees as required

· Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications

· High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent

· Professional health and safety designation (CRST, CRSP, HSP) preferred

· Minimum one year of health and safety experience is preferred

· Strong understanding of current Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice, bulletins and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations – must have Occupational Health and Safety Level Certification or working towards completing one

· Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations

· Proficient, hands-on experience with computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

· Knowledge of Aviation/Airline products and services considered an asset

· Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset

Working Conditions

· Physically able to perform all listed job duties

· Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role

· Work performed primarily in an office environment

· Work performed in multiple environments. Contact with staff and the general public.

· Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions

· Use of safety equipment as required and applicable to role
