Engineering Team Leader

Plan, organize and lead the activities to support the External Service Issue Resolution Process. Responsibilities include estimating effort and cost and ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality targets. Effective communication with internal and external customers is critical to success. Implementation of continuous improvement activities including metrics, root cause analysis and implementation of process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Development Engineering at the Service Executive Meetings and Andon clinics in each businesses (Molds, Hot Runners / Controllers, Machines)
  • Provide the product development teams with leadership in feedback of service issues and impact on current development.
  • Lead and participate in design review meeting, with the potential to conduct design presentations to the CEO and/or COO
  • Ensure the implementation of the Product Development Process and Product Change Process.
  • Provides main engineering interface to outside suppliers/customers
  • Decisions involve interpreting complex data and being responsible for plans, methods and coordinator of a project
  • Given considerable independence to achieve specific objectives
  • Develops and manages project timelines, resource plans and budgets
  • Interview and hire of new team members
  • Coach, develop and lead team members to their full potential. Encourage team member to think, organize and lead while providing them with development opportunities
  • Evaluate and review team member performance while developing potential succession plans.
  • Facilitate communication between business unit and team members
  • May participate in or lead continuous improvement activities

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education (University engineering degree preferred) or 5-10 years of equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of engineering experience
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Previous project management experience an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Root Cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Strong knowledge of Product Development Process
  • Understands Quality function deployment processes
  • Strong knowledge of Husky products, tools, standards, processes and technology and customer base
  • Strong project, time management skills and ability to delegate tasks and projects
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Strong decision-making and judgment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation)
  • Strong sense of integrity
  • Demonstrates high degree of flexibility and embraces changing priorities
