You'll be joining an experienced team of engineers with direct experience building and scaling teams through massive growth at companies like Slack, Meta, and Samsara. On the back of this experience and our success to date, we’ve raised over $32M from leading investors including Greylock and Battery Ventures. Your responsibilities

  • Build trust with your team and cross functional partners

  • Create a culture of technical excellence, execution and leadership within your team

  • Attract a diverse array of top talent. Mentor, coach, grow and support them

  • Partner with product management to create focused, meaningful priorities that are clearly connected to the company’s success. React effectively to changes

  • Create an execution strategy that ensures your team consistently delivers reliable, secure, products in a way that makes our customers happy

  • Be conversant in systems design & architecture, can reason about trade-offs, and ultimately own & defend technical decisions / technical direction for your team

  • Interact directly with customers. Keep the team closely aligned with customer sentiment and feedback

  • Build out Opal's Toronto hub as one of our first hires in Toronto!

Our ideal candidate

  • Leads and delivers complex, company impacting projects with your cross functional partners by helping their teams work together as a single, combined team

  • Has the flexibility and experience to weigh trade offs and make decisions in a fast moving environment

  • Understands many of the metrics involved in software development and leverages that information to understand and improve the team’s execution

  • Writes code occasionally to empathize with their developer’s daily experience and stay in touch with the health of the codebase
