Job Description

The successful candidate will be an Engineering Graduate / EIT with 2 to 4 years of experience working in an engineering capacity. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the metallurgy / mineral processing sector. Any mine backfill related experience is considered advantageous. The Engineering Graduate / EIT will have a background in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, or mineral processing and should be equally comfortable working in a plant, underground or office environment. Exposure to surface plants, material handling operations and underground mine sites on an as-required basis is expected to fulfill the needs of the projects. This position is part of the Engineering group within our growing Sudbury office. The work will involve short (1-2 days) to medium term (2-3 weeks) travel to domestic and international mine sites. This role includes the following tasks.

Tasks

  • Support engineering at all stages of the project life cycle (i.e. PFS, FS, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning). This will include participation or a lead role in the development of design criteria documents, engineering drawings, technical reports, etc.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to prepare cost estimates suitable to the level of accuracy required for the project
  • Technical communication, including report writing and presentations
  • Peer review of technical documents to ensure deliverables align with the high-quality of work that we have built our reputation on
  • Process equipment sizing and preparation of equipment data sheets/RFQs
  • Prepare and be accountable for engineering documents such as design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts, and general arrangements
  • Support plant/process system start-up, commissioning, and training assistance
  • On-site troubleshooting of process systems, equipment audits, debottlenecking etc.
  • Prepare and/or review technical reports

Minimum Requirements and Competencies

  • B. Sc. engineering degree. Preference will be given to candidates with discipline specific degrees that complement our current service offerings
  • 2 to 4 years engineering experience. (Experience in an engineering firm is considered an asset)
  • Eligible to apply for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario within two years of joining
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral. Fluency in French or Spanish is considered an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong presentation and technical writing skills, especially technical reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Eligible to work in Canada
