ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION (for EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04):
Ed1. A bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university with specializations related to the functions of the position, such as, but not limited to: aerospace, computer, electrical, mechanical and biomedical.
OR
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE EN-ENG-03:
- Ex1: At least two (2) years of experience in evaluating, analyzing, and solving problems in the engineering field.
- Ex2: At least two (2) years of experience in providing technical and strategic advice in the engineering field.
EXPERIENCE EN-ENG-04:
- Ex3: At least four (4) years of experience in evaluating, analyzing, and solving problems in the engineering field.
- Ex4: At least four (4) years of experience in providing technical and strategic advice in the engineering field.
- Ex5: At least four (4) years of experience in managing* projects or programs with varying degrees of complexity and magnitude.
*Managing is defined as being directly responsible and not limited to planning (including option analysis), cost and schedule scope, risk management or contract management.
KNOWLEDGE (for EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04):
- Knowledge of project management.
ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES (for EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04):
- Ability to communicate effectively orally ;
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing ;
- Demonstrating integrity and respect ;
- Thinking things through ;
- Working effectively with others ;
- Showing initiative and being action-oriented ;
- Ability to evaluate options and make recommendations.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Assets qualifications are qualifications that are not essential to perform the work, but that would benefit the organization or enhance the work to be performed currently or in the future.
EDUCATION (for EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04):
- AEd1. Graduate degree from a recognized university in Business Administration or Project Management or in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
- AEd2. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- AEd3. Graduate degree from a recognized university in a discipline related to biomedical engineering, health or life sciences.
EXPERIENCE EN-ENG-03:
- AEx1. At least one (1) year of experience in managing* projects or programs with varying degrees of complexity and magnitude.
*Managing is defined as being directly responsible and not limited to planning (including option analyses), cost and schedule scope, risk management or contract management.
EXPERIENCE EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04:
- AEx2. Experience in managing space projects.
- AEx3.Experience in managing projects involving partnership with governmental organizations.
- AEx4. Experience in negotiating with various stakeholders.
- AEx5. Experience in team supervision.
- AEx6. Experience in strategic planning.
- AEx7. Experience with project management stage-gate models and/or working as part of an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).
KNOWLEDGE (for EN-ENG-03 and EN-ENG-04):
- AK1. Knowledge of new trends and developments in biomedical technologies, as well as the strengths of Canadian academia and industry.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness and availability to travel in Canada or abroad upon request and often on short notice.
- Willingness and availability to work overtime upon request.
