We are currently looking for an Employment Placement Consultant to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Elm Street location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the Program Manager, the Employment Placement Consultant provides retention supports to clients, mentors/coaches, and communicates with employers for various programs and services. This job is also responsible for ensuring optimum job placement retention results while maintaining YMCA values.

START DATE: As soon as possible

LOCATION: Sudbury, ON

RATE OF PAY: $48,485.33 per year

Major Responsibilities

  • Assess clients to identify their interests, abilities, skills, skill limits, transferable skills, and retention issues
  • Monitor clients progress before, during, and after placements as per program guidelines
  • Conduct on site monitoring visits to clients on placements
  • Assist with putting employment supports in place (for example child care, transportation)
  • Develop training plans
  • Provide interview support and short-term job coaching as required
  • Monitor clients progress and provide appropriate interventions
  • Develop a pool of mentors/coaches to support the clients
  • Work with Job Developers in management of volunteer opportunities, job trials, job shadowing and job placements
  • Develop new forms and materials as required
  • Compile monthly statistical information and forward it as required

Qualifications

  • College diploma or University degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in personal and or vocational counselling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Solid knowledge of community resources
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player
  • Crisis management and life skills
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • A valid Class G driver's license and a reliable vehicle
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
