Morson Canada is seeking an Electrical Engineering Team Leader in Ottawa, ON to join our client in the Defence industry. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Land Systems, this role will supervise a team of engineers to efficiently support the delivery of bids, installations, and systems to meet requirements, schedule, and cost. If you have experience in electrical engineering and a passion for leading a team to success, we encourage you to apply today.Your responsibilities in this role will include:Drive the implementation of advanced electrical engineering throughout the company Systems Engineering function.Provide leadership, mentorship, or support to a small design team of electrical engineers or more junior team members.Responsible for the development and performance management of direct reports.Ensure a defined electrical build standard for North America by working closely with the electrical manufacturing team.Support the CE marking of in-house manufactured electrical equipment.Develop in-depth knowledge of standards and specifications appropriate to the electrical discipline.Support our projects and business development activities by applying pragmatic and best practice electrical engineering techniques.Promote and adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.Work to standards, processes, and procedures to ensure rigor, robustness, and continuous improvement of solutions. Meet all regulatory requirements and comply with specifications, quality, and certification requirements.Support all contractual, regulatory, and legal requirements for technical compliance, verification, and validation activities.Work within the electrical budget and delivery schedule for each project to ensure that the technical solution is fit for purpose and meets the customer's requirements.Provide innovative solutions based on standards and product baselines wherever possible. Support the wider team in the preparation of bills of materials and specific electrical work breakdown packages.Ensure a defined electrical build standard by working effectively with all disciplines to ensure effective integration of electrical systems and components within mechanical constraints.Work in a collaborative manner within the team and with other areas of the company.Manage budget and schedule for delivery of own work packages.Control the configuration of the product, build standard, drawings and documentation.Lead and support redlining or other design change management processes as required.Lead and support various design review meetings (SRR, ERR, PDR, CDR, change boards, etc.) as required.Perform peer and team reviews of electrical drawings and electrical reviews of related mechanical drawings.Make mark-up changes to drawings as needed and raise issues in PLM to ensure configuration control and defined build standard.Provide electrical engineering support for trials and testing, including ATS functional testing.Write or review and approve technical specifications for subcontractors.Prepare or review and approve test schedules/reports and lead test activities.Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Engineering Manager. Apply if you have most of the following:A degree in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline from an accredited university or equivalent knowledge gained through other forms of education or training. Electrical engineering experience with Modular Shelter based products or related systems is considered an asset.Minimum of 10 years electrical design experience with 3 years electrical engineering management experience.Strong understanding of wire harness manufacturing techniques including fabrication. Ability to mentor a small electrical design team.Experience in leading teams to deliver and plan large and complex tasks on time and on budget, demonstrating effective time management across many projects and priorities.Demonstrated effectiveness in using professional or technical expertise to make decisions and provide guidance to colleagues.Expert in product safety, standards, and rugged environments for North America.EMI/EMC safety and test requirements for modular shelters is considered an asset.Electrical expert in creating and reviewing drawings including (but not limited to) block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and harnesses.Excellent understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I Safety Standard for Electrical Installations CSA 22.1 (current edition).Experience with software design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, MENTOR GRAPHICS.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.Excellent planning and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: fluency in English, both written and oral, is a must and proficiency in French is an asset.Must be able to meet the requirements of export control regulations and security regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and the security requirements of the Government of Canada.
