Job Description

Primary Objective:Responsible for the development and management of assigned project work during all phases, from inception through planning, design, and construction, in accordance with the project scope, schedule, and budget.Responsibilities:The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:Prepare the concept design and complete load calculations, schematics, equipment selection and system concept reportDesign Electrical systems including but not limited to medium and low voltage electrical distribution, generators including cogeneration, transfer switching, UPS, grounding and bonding, lighting and control systems, life safety and emergency systems, and fire alarm.Design for ICAT services including but not limited to communication systems, AV systems, security access and monitoring systems, equipment and structured cabling.Write construction specificationsManaging all aspects of electrical projects for our clients in the airport, high rise, residential, healthcare and commercial building industryCoordination with other members of project team technician and engineerLiaise with client group to establish project requirementsConstruction and equipment procurement follow-upSupport during start-up and commissioningCoordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completenessReview and coordinate with architectural, structural and mechanical drawingsWork with contractors and respond to technical inquiriesHelp establish and promote client relationshipsStrive to ensure quality and timely delivery of finished products to clientsQualifications, Experience and Education:8+ yearsof engineering and/or design co-ordination experience in the consulting industry, specifically working on commercial projectsProfessional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.)Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline such as Building SystemsProficiency in developing construction documents using AutoCAD and REVITFamiliar with bid and tendering processFamiliarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Project and PowerPointExperience working with customers and client baseExperience in site investigations and construction reviewAble to make frequent trips to the customers’ place of business.Maintenance of project design fee budgets and profitabilityAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently.Required Skills:Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper managementAble to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers, and other stakeholdersExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executivesAble to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear mannerKnowledge of Canadian Engineering standards and codesHigh level of sound and independent judgment and reasoningExcellent time management skills and project management skillsFlexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines with the ability to work under pressureAnalytical, thorough, resourceful and detail-orientedTeam and customer service-focusedSelf-motivated, hardworking, flexibleJob Specific Competencies:Analytical Thinking– Analyzing and synthesizing information to understand issuesClient Focus– Providing service excellence with added value to internal and/or external clientsContinuous Learning– Identifying and addressing learning and developmental needs to enhance own performanceCreativity and Innovation– Modifies current approaches to generating viable, new approaches and solutionsInitiative– Addresses current issues by dealing with situations proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that ariseInteractive Communication– Listening to others and communicating articulately, fostering two-way open communicationLegislative, Policies, Procedures & Standards– Understanding and using relevant legislation, policies, procedures and/or standards in performing one’s workResults Management– Supervises work/projects by organizing time, work and resources to accomplish in the most effective and efficient waySelf Confidence– Demonstrating realistic trust in own abilities and confidence when challengedTeamwork– Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals#J-18808-Ljbffr
