Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Automation team in designing, integrating, and managing automation projects
  • Manage the scheduling and tracking of new projects and the overall engineering deliverables
  • Develop engineering standards and define best practices
  • Develop and design engineered products for IIOT, Automation, and Electrical applications
  • Low voltage power system design and documentation
  • Create test and commissioning procedures and documentation
  • Build test benches and perform QA and software acceptance testing for new products before they enter production
  • Feasibility studies on systems and projects
  • Create engineered drawings such as network topology and one-line diagrams, and complete red-line revisions
  • Manage and respond to internal information requests as well as requests from 3rd party contractors
  • Stay up to date with project management techniques and tools
  • Interface with engineering teams, field personnel, and IT departments
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Jr employees
  • May be professionally responsible for the work product of Jr Employees
  • Up to 5% travel to remote field locations and facilities as required

Knowledge & Skills

Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent drafting software

Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and distributed control systems

Experience working with ABB drives is considered an asset

Amphion experience and AC rig experience are considered an asset

Knowledgeable in traditional and Agile project management techniques

Understanding of industrial communication protocols and IP networking

Must have a drive to continually learn and embrace new technology

Education

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent required.  

Experience

3-5 years of relevant oilfield experience

Field Experience is a strong asset

Strong understanding of modern Drilling Rigs, practices, applicable standards, and applications of technology

Experience with automation systems an asset

P. Eng, registered and in good standing with APEGA
