Job Description:

  • Design controls and functions using accepted design and safety procedures per industry and company standards from order through shipment.
  • Create and/or update panel layouts, wiring schematics, pneumatic controls, and Bill of Materials per project work order that are correct and complete ensuring the machine performance.
  • Plan logic system for functions such as sequence and timing control.
  • Create and/or alter existing PLC, motion, HMI applications to ensure machine performance per project work order.
  • Start-up and debug to ensure proper operation and safety features.
  • Complete and file all documentation at the point of equipment finalization and shipment. File all documents in proper locations on the network.
  • Assist in the creation of Operator Manuals by providing functional descriptions of HMI applications for example.
  • Assist in the creation of validation documents (FDS, FAT, IQOQ) and technical specifications.
  • Instruct the Manufacturing team on proper wiring and controls installation and assembly.
  • Provide support to the Manufacturing Team for testing and troubleshooting of machine builds and solutions.
  • Provide support to the Service team regarding installation, service, or field support.
  • Directly interface with customers in a professional manner on assigned projects.
  • Provide accurate and/or updated time estimates relevant to project completion dates.
  • Work with team to troubleshoot and resolve problems that will improve efficiency and quality of operations.
  • Interface with the Engineering Leader regarding controls work done through contractors.
  • Constantly search for new applications, products and concepts to maintain leading edge solutions.
  • Occasionally travel to customer facilities or other BW Integrated Systems/Barry-Wehmiller domestic and international locations.
  • Help build and maintain electrical engineering standards, including designs, software, HMI and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from a College or University or, a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, preferably in the packaging industry or converting industries with emphasis on Allen-Bradley programming.
