Electrical CAD Designer - Role and Responsibilities:
The
El ectrical CAD Designer will work with minimal supervision and mu s t be capable of independently obtaining sufficient information to develop i n dustrial electrical design construction drawings per Air Products standards and the Nati on al Electric a l Code (NEC).
You will have excellent time managem e nt skills as you will frequ entl y work on multiple proj ec t tasks at the same time.

C orporate Headquarters in
Al lentow n , PA.
Scope of responsibilities include:
You will possess a strong working background in the following areas of electrical design:
A comprehensive working knowledge of the current National Electrical Code
Distrib u ti o n and contr o l of alternating current
e le c t r ic a l volta g e classes from 120 volts to 15,000 volts
Working knowledge of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) and ability to understand the electrical interfaces
Di stribution
an d w i ring of direct current instrumentation circuitry (4-20 m A and
thermoco u ple)
Design and layout of underground conduit and grounding sy s tems
Development and inter p retation of medium voltage and 480 -volt
single
l ine diagrams including layout of motor control centers from load li s ts
Determine medium and low voltage feeder cable sizing ampacities based on calculation of allowable conduit fills, de-rating factors and voltage drop per the National Electrical Code
Development and interpretation of control schematics
Develop physical l a yout drawings from specifications, vendor drawings, sketches, and related instructions
Develop physical layout drawings in areas classified as hazardous based on solid working knowledge of Article 500 of the National Electric a l code
Development of cable tray layout drawings for power, contr o l,
a nd instrumentation wiring
Development of interconnec ti ng wiring diagrams and terminati o n
schedules
us i ng physical layout drawings, control schematics and vendor drawings
Design of industrial exterior and i n t e rior lighting systems
Development of electric heat tracing for freeze protection and process applications
Design of communications and fiber optic systems
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:
Solid working knowledge of Bentley System s , In c . MicroStation CAD
is preferred
Applicants with a strong drafting background using AutoCAD will be considered
Raster document overlay editing applications for CAD software a plus
Microsoft Office Tools
Solid understanding of
industrial
electrical equipment and materials and their application in the design process
Comprehensive working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, particular the sections relating to Wire and Cable, Raceway Systems, Motors and Motor Controls, Hazardous Areas, and installations over 600 volts
15% travel within the US and Canada
Education and Licensing Requirements:
Associate degree in electrical engineering technology, and 5 years as journeyman electrician is preferred
