SUMMARY:

The Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for electrical and instrumentation maintenance on a factory-wide basis. This position is responsible for developing standard operating and maintenance procedures to ensure tasks are performed in a safe and consistent manner. The incumbent will participate in all departmental safety initiatives.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL:

  • Develop formal maintenance plans, scheduling of work assignments, as well as selecting and purchasing suitable replacement parts through the CMMS (Maximo);
  • Ensure that work planned complies with all applicable provincial/federal regulations, including company policies and standards;
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues;
  • Assist the engineering department in new equipment design projects with respect to electrical and instrumentation integration;
  • Participate in the selection, training, evaluation of department trades employees;
  • Schedules, assigns, plans and monitors the work of electrical shop employees;
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation and control of the electrical/instrumentation maintenance budget;
  • Categorize resourced work and prioritize work orders in CMMS;
  • Plan and develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of electrical expenditures and procedures for equipment maintenance.
  • Work closely with the company’s Site Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with OH&S policies and practices and ensure safe work practices are being followed

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN THE TEAM:

  • Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist or Electrical/Instrumentation Trade with 5 years post qualifying Red Seal.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing industry
  • 3-5 years supervisor experience, previous experience in a unionized environment considered an asset
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical/instrumentation trade
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical/instrumentation codes, standards, and regulations
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques
  • Skill in estimating time and material requirements of assigned work projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills are necessary
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing situations, manage stress effectively, effective decision making skills
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work environment is often noisy, sometimes hot or cold. A minimum level of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times within the facility.
  • Physically fit and able to climb several flights of stairs on a daily basis, some occasional lifting up to 30kg. Ability to bend, stretch, and maneuver into sometimes awkward, dirty locations.
