Reports to: Plant Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support a 499MW cogeneration power plant in Sarnia, Ontario. The EHS Coordinator reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for all environmental emissions compliance and reporting, permitting activities, and safety training site.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Interaction with local, provincial, and federal regulators to resolve permit issues.
  • Provide technical support and direction to contractors and in-house personnel.
  • Provide technical support to the station staff as needed to address technical problems.
  • Act as administrator for the station technical library files and effectively manage these support systems.
  • Learn and use key programs for evaluating plant performance.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of personnel
  • Keep accurate records of all statistics being monitored.
  • Be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a resident of Canada.
  • Experience with Canadian Provincial and federal air emissions and environmental reporting.
  • Ability to manage daily communication of expectations, provide feedback and work collaboratively with plant staff.
  • Must possess a high degree of flexibility and have the capacity to work in a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and very strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of extensive walking, sitting and repetitive motion throughout the day.
  • Must be able to manage the sounds typically found in an operating power plant.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Occupational Safety Management or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with a strong working knowledge of Environmental and Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety rules and mandates.
