The Department of Community and Social Services leads seniors, employment, disabilities and community-based supports, family violence prevention, and family & community support services.

The Statistics and Analytic Team (StAT) was developed to support evidence-based decision- making processes for Employment and Financial Services (EFS). StAT supports data literacy through identifying and developing strong data collection methods and project support while aligning with strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, the Employment and Financial Services (EFS) Analyst works independently and collaboratively, as needed. Working with project coordinators, management, and senior management in the branch, the EFS Analyst will support the needs of EFS North Zone, its associated program areas, and its stakeholders to collect, analyze, synthesize, report, and present operational data to understand trends, issues, and risks related to service delivery and effective operations.

Knowledge of various systems (e.g., electronic content management systems, workflow management systems, contact centre technology platforms), and technical knowledge (e.g., SharePoint, Power Apps, etc.) is required.

The position works closely with data-oriented analysts, program staff, management and stakeholders to provide relevant information and utilize tools and methodologies to engage with appropriate audiences and users.

The position will select the best analytical and reporting techniques and develop and present recommendations. Creativity along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to review, analyze, interpret, and communicate information that is clear, concise, and useful to relevant program areas, the Executive Leadership Team, the Division, and cross-ministry partners.

The position must work closely with other areas within Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) and cross-ministry, influencing partners to complete project objectives. The results created affect all Albertans as systems and models are changed to better serve their needs.

A university degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field plus 2 years of progressively responsible related experience.

Equivalencies will be considered as directly related education or experience based on 1 year of education for 1 year of experience or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

The following is a requirement of the position:

  • Knowledge of data analytics and communicating data to stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data collection and reporting tools, including use of data visualization and dashboard reporting software and tools.
  • Experience working with customizing and developing applications within applicable electronic content management systems.
  • Knowledge of information management, working knowledge of the workforce and internal government stakeholders is required.
  • Detail oriented, analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

The following will be considered assets:

  • Understanding of project management concepts and processes.
  • Experience working with Microsoft apps and solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding of the technology and systems used by the division (SharePoint, Compass, ARC, Mobius, BRAIN, LISA/CCD, dimg, etc).
  • Knowledge of government strategic goals and policy directions, particularly as they relate to Seniors, Community and Social ServicesCSS mandated business plans, priorities, organization, and decision-making structures of lead, partner, and support ministries

This is a full-time permanent position located in Edmonton. The hours of work are 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
