Position/Title/Fund: Education & Training Manager Location: Remote, Canada Salary: $68,000-$80,000 annually Description:Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for someone who is ambitious, personable and passionately committed to true Indigenous Climate Justice to serve as its Education and Training Manager. This position requires a deep understanding of the intersectional approaches of climate justice and Indigenous rights in application to education and training contexts. At ICA we inspire action through the development of tools and opportunities created with, by and for our communities, with the goal of uplifting Indigenous voices, sovereignty, and stewardship of the lands and waters for future generations. Together we seek to build a world with sovereign and thriving Indigenous Peoples and cultures leading climate justice for all. The Education and Training Manager you will work with ICA Leadership to coordinate educational resources, develop and oversee the delivery of training on climate justice through a variety of ICA’s programs such as, but not limited to, Climate Leadership, Just Transition, and Divestment. You will work closely with the ICA management team on the intersections of the Pod’s and ensure the values, mission and vision of ICA are aligned with ICA’s program development and delivery. In addition, the Education & Training Manager is may be required to work in collaboration with other program managers and leads to seek alignments and support transparent communication about the work of Education and Training. This is a remote, work from home, online working position with priority given to Indigenous people who live in so-called Canada. Responsibilities : Project Management Provide regular reports and advice to the ICA Leadership team and management in a timely and accurate way. Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director on emerging training needs based on ICA programs. Develop work plans for project goals with education and training programs. Review and facilitate intake of requests for education and training collaborations with ICA and provide strategic advice on these requests. Manage budgets in accordance with the Programs (Climate Leadership, Just Transition, and Divestment) department. Support Development team in funding related applications and reporting. Work closely with the Executive Director and report to the Steering Committee when required. Collaborative evaluation with Staff of program impacts. Other duties as assigned by Director of Education and Training. Development of Training and Education Leading in the development and implementation of curriculum in regards to ICA programs. Lead in Indigenous curriculum development and processes and paradigms. Identify and explore research opportunities that amplify and support Indigenous communities. Evaluate and improve training resources on programs based on testing and feedback. Contribute to the development of education and training materials related to ICA’s policy work. Seek alignments within other ICA programs to support wider education and training, including but not limited to Divestment, Just Transition and Decolonizing Climate Policy. Team Management Support in hiring and management of program coordinators, interns, and contractors to meet the Education and training department goals. Track work plans with staff for project goals with education and training programs. Work with the HR manager to support opportunities for training and professional development of team members. Participating in external partnerships Liaise with the Steering Committee and traditional knowledge keepers for training development guidance. Organize and attend gatherings (online and eventually offline) to pilot and promote program training. Assist Communications team in long term relationships with external partners. Communications Support and/or lead in the development of materials on educational resources and training opportunities as it relates to the ICA programs. Support Communications team in development of Education and Training specific content. Participate in presentations, speaking engagements and actions. Decision Making Supporting collaborative decision making processes to provide direction for ICA programs; Engage with Steering Committee, ICA Board and strategic partners to support program growth and long-term planning. Qualifications : A combination of education and experience. A post-secondary graduate degree in a related field (e.g., education, social sciences, environmental, Indigenous studies). 2-5 years of facilitation and group coordination experience. Ability to travel extensively within Canada. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Experience working in Indigenous communities. Proficient in multiple computer operating systems (Google Docs, Microsoft Suite, Pages, Keynote, Powerpoint, Excel, etc) Member of an Indigenous community and fluency in an Indigenous language an asset. Extensive knowledge and experience with federal/provincial/territorial organizational climate and Indigenous rights policies and issues. Strong relationship-building skills for balanced diverse perspectives and expectations, and the ability to communicate constructive advice. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills to prepare and present clear advice through educational materials. Experience working with Indigenous-led organizations and structures that challenges systems of colonization, white supremacy, patriarchy and capitalism. Experienced in conflict resolution is considered an asset. Management, and/or supervision of staff, including reporting, evaluation and assessment experience is essential.#J-18808-Ljbffr
