Tundra is seeking a Drilling EIT/Engineer to join the Drilling department based out of our Virden, Manitoba office . The incumbent in this role will be eligible to participate in Tundra?s flexible  hybrid work schedule.

As a junior member of the Drilling group, the individual will be expected to participate and contribute to specific projects as required and handle a wide range of general duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Drilling Superintendent, the responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assist Senior Drilling Engineers in planning and executing drilling operations. General duties may include: developing drilling programs, offset well reviews, contributing to the well licensing process, QA/QC well packages, developing AFE's and tracking their approval progress, review of field reports, participation in daily rig calls, and providing office support to senior Drilling Engineers.
  • Learn and apply drilling engineering principles and techniques.
  • Take a proactive approach to learning about drilling challenges and solutions within Tundra's areas of activity and provide support to Area Teams as required.
  • Assist in designing well programs and selecting drilling equipment.
  • Monitor drilling parameters and provide support in optimizing drilling efficiency.
  • Assist in tracking various key performance indicators and non-productive time.
  • Learn and apply health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling operations.
  • Participate in rig site visits to gain hands-on experience and understanding of drilling processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve drilling challenges and achieve project objectives.
  • Participate in training programs and professional development activities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Review daily drilling reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate electronic well files are maintained and administrate the frac plot process.
  • Assist in the review, preparation, and scheduling of well risk assessments and anti-collision assessment meetings.
  • Provide drilling support to area development teams as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain drilling rig and supervisor schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • 1-5 years of relatable engineering experience
  • Previous oil field experience, specifically drilling rig experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in the following programs would be considered an asset: Spotfire, Accumap, Generwell, Enervus, Wellview, K&M ERA.
  • Ability to complete all company required training: H2S, First Aid, TDG, WHMIS, and other courses as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional result-driven team environment with good project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is required and the ability to work under pressure
  • Due to the nature of the operation (24 hrs/d, 7 days/wk) the successful candidate will be expected to take part in an on-call rotation, during which they will routinely be required outside of regular business hours for operational troubleshooting.
  • Must be comfortable attending the field with regular presence at the well-site.
  • Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra's Safety Policy.
