Newmont North America operations are located in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec with roles in operations, projects, and exploration. Regional Support is provided from our office in Vancouver.

What will you be responsible for?
Reporting to the Head, Finance, North America, the Regional Planning Director will lead the North America Business Unit Planning team, providing strategic support to the Business Unit leadership team and acting as a primary point of contact between the Business Unit and the Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis teams. 

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:
•Lead the North America Business Unit Annual Business Plan and Quarterly / Monthly Forecast processes.
•Critically review Business Plans as part of the Annual Business Plan and Forecasting processes, working closely with Site Business Managers and functional leaders.
•Lead the preparation and review of key accounting items as part of Business Plan and Forecast submissions (including reclamation and closure, Inventory / NRVs, financial leases, capitalize interest, DDA etc.).
•Actively manage effectiveness and continuous improvement of FP&A processes, tools, and systems within the region to maximize efficiencies and quality/accuracy of plans.
•Engage with stakeholder groups situated at the Site, Business Unit and Enterprise levels, to ensure financial plans reflect best available information and required standards.
•Play a key role in proactively analyzing business performance and key performance metrics to provide analytical, strategic, and financial support to the Business Unit Leadership Team.
•Business partner with the Enterprise, Business Unit, and Site functions.
•Support management reporting within the Business Unit to support the leadership team.
•Proactively work closely with the Americas Controllership driving resolution and alignment on processes, tools, and financial standards/policies.
•Provide leadership to direct team focusing on continuous performance improvement, change management, development, and coaching.

Your Training, Skills & Experience

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or related field.
•CPA or CFA designation preferred.

Experience:
•Minimum 15 years’ experience in the areas of finance and planning ideally in the mining sector or a related industry.
•Broad understanding of all the operational and service functional areas that support the mining business model, with in-depth expertise in many areas.

Skills and Abilities:
•Exceptional analytical skills at both strategic and financial levels.
•Proven track record in improving business processes and continuous improvement mindset.
•Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
•Sense of urgency, self-motivated, result-oriented, and innovative thinker with high energy to deliver results.
•Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, and retain a high-functioning team.
•Working knowledge of SAP, SAP BPC, Xeras is strongly preferred. 
 

Working Conditions & Location

•This position is based in Newmont’s Vancouver office with a flexible work arrangement of in-person and remote work.
•This role may be required to travel to other Newmont locations within the business unit, and the Denver head office.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 186,960- 222,015 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
