Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Purchasing and Materials Management, Vice President, this position is responsible for directing all Purchasing Supply activities to effectively plan material requirements for purchased parts in support of the production schedule. This position will drive continuous improvement in supplier performance including on time delivery and supplier quality, and represent the Purchasing Department in operational meetings.  We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven supply chain professional with a strong background in leadership, preferably in the manufacturing industry. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Establish goals and strategies that optimize operational stability through improved material planning methods and systems which includes inventory management.  Represent the Purchasing Department in daily and weekly key operational meetings by providing timely and accurate information on current supply issues. Direct the Purchasing team in achieving continuous improvement in delivery and quality performance within the Supplier Performance Measurement Program. Identify system improvements and related efficiency tools that improve Purchasing operations. Establish key Quality and Delivery performance metrics and benchmarks that support established goals.  Direct, coach and mentor the Purchasing team towards achieving established goals, while addressing any changes in requirements daily. Communicate Master Scheduling Requirements to suppliers to ensure supply continuity and identify/suggest corrective action. Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. Support and liaise with various departments and business units to resolve any material supply issues and establish an effective supply base.  Set and Control Purchasing portion of the departmental expense budget. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Post-secondary education with emphasis on Supply Management or Engineering and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years proven Senior Management leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.  Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.  Proven track record of Supplier Relationship Management and improving supplier performance. Extensive knowledge of managing a supply base, inventory management and MRP systems (Oracle considered a strong asset).  SCMP, COM, CSCP, or similar designations would be considered a strong asset.  Up to 20% of travel is required for this position.  OUR WHY: We exist to move people.
