The Department of Inuit Employment and Training ensures that the commitments to full representative levels of Inuit Employment workforces in Nunavut are being effectively and creatively met. Focus is placed on ensuring all Federal Government and Government of Nunavut responsibilities are carried out under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
The incumbent will be responsible for the research, analysis, consultations, and preparation of Policy recommendations related to achieving the objective of Article 23 by the Government of Nunavut and the Government of Canada; namely government’s employment of at least 85% Inuit in all occupation levels and groupings.
The Director of Inuit Employment and Training will report to the Chief Executive Officer of NTI, while coordinating with other NTI departments and staff as appropriate to implement the May 4, 2015 Settlement Agreement with the Government of Canada and Nunavut. The Director will oversee the effective management of the Mikigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation and its associated funding as outlined in the 2015 Settlement Agreement.

Starting salary is $118,131.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) and a Northern Allowance and Housing Allowance of $24,000.00 per annum.
