The opportunity Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Finance / Financial Controller will be responsible for supporting the CFO in overseeing the financial operations of our company. This individual is responsible for managing the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with accounting principles. Responsibilities Oversee the production of financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including the preparation of management reports. Oversee and ensure a timely and accurate month-end closing process, including analysis of accounts, GL reconciliation and production of internal financials statements. Responsible for the coordination and supervision of both internal (if required) and external financial audits. Oversee and direct the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. Develop and implement the financial accounting policies, systems and procedures of the organization. Lead the financial planning and analysis process, working with all departments to direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and report variances. Manage cash flow and forecasting; develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism. Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to the CFO, senior management and/or other departments. Oversee government-related administration, including communications and declarations with the CRA and Revenu Quebec. Assist with the application of government grants and tax credits in order to secure additional project funding. Oversee and manage the administration function and staff. Oversee and supervise the outsourced IT service provider and ensure IT policies are complied with. Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations. Develop and oversee the internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for financial and tax reporting. Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company. Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analyses to help guide business decisions. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of progressively complex and responsible experience leading to overall responsibilities as listed above. Excellent ASPE financial reporting knowledge (IFRS and US GAAP experience is an asset). Experience in financial statement creation, general ledger functions and closing processes. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations. Strong leadership, organizational and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and interpret financial data. Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
