Director of Facilities and Environmental Services Full Time About the Windsor Elms Village (Falmouth, NS): Windsor Elms Village is an Eden Registered Home with a resident-directed philosophy of care. At Windsor Elms Village there are three distinct neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has four houses of nine residents. With such a diverse group of residents, you will find each house has its own character. At WEV, we strive to create flexibility that mirrors life in the communities and homes our residents have known. The Director of Facilities and Environmental Services is responsible for supervising and leading the environmental services team by overseeing and directing the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance of the building and grounds as well as relationships/contracts with external suppliers. The Director oversees the day-to-day operations for the immediate benefit of residents, care partners and visitors while fostering Windsor Elms Village Mission, Vision & Guiding Principles & Principles of the Eden AlternativeTM. The Director is a key strategic member of the Leadership Team and as such, participates in the overall management of the facility. Summary of Roles & Responsibilities (Full Job Description available upon request)Ø Direct supervision, leadership & evaluation of Environmental Services and Maintenance Team Ø Oversees and conducts regular audits for quality and safety for licensing requirements Ø Builds and maintains a facility-wide preventative maintenance program and emergency preparedness plan. Ø Participate in decision-making for purchasing capital equipment and oversee evaluation of new equipment Ø Perform maintenance role when needed Ø Organizes & Manages work of subcontractors Ø Oversees the access control and security of building Ø Plans and supervises the maintenance of facility building and grounds Ø Oversees the Information Technology needs of home Ø Oversees and manages the departmental budget Ø May be required to be recalled to the home or be on stand-by in case of emergency Requirements / Qualifications: Ø Diploma in mechanical, carpentry or electrical preferred or technician level diploma and/or course in building maintenance. Ø Ability to use Building Control System Application. Ø Possess the full range of knowledge, ability and skills required to troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, overhaul, assemble, install, adjust, test, maintain and document components and systems. Ø Experience in mechanical repair, electrical repair, carpentry, drywall repair/painting, welding, hydraulic systems and HVAC systems. Ø Well-developed interpersonal communication skills Ø Must be a strong team player with strong leadership skills (works well with others both within and outside the Environmental Services Department). Ø WHMIS, Fire safety training Ø Previous long-term care experience is an asset Ø Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal acts and regulations Ø Sound decision making and responsible financial management Ø Minimum 5yrs experience in the above areas & experience Leading People Ø Values that align with Windsor Elms Village Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles & Eden Principles Salary: Based on experience Hours: The regular hours of work for this position are intended to be 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Flex time may be approved outside of these hours. Given the scope and responsibility of the role, on-call availability/flexibility may also be a requirement.
