Job Description

The New Brunswick SPCA’s Director of Development is an experienced communicator, marketer, and professional fundraiser. A self-starter who excels as a team member and leader. This position is a key member of the NBSPCA team and is primarily responsible for the development, execution, and evaluation of development strategies and materials designed to help the team reach fundraising and communication goals as well as enhance the Society’s overall reputation.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)


➡️ Develop and direct overall fundraising strategy, implementation and management including:

  • Development of a multi-year fund-raising strategy
  • Approach to planned-giving
  • Prospect identification, tracking, solicitation priorities, and timeline management.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of donors based on key relationships; and
  • initiate and manage online fund-raising efforts.
  • Identify and implement the appropriate materials, tools and strategies to successfully meet fund-raising goals,

➡️ Build and execute a digital strategy that includes website and social channels containing engaging and relevant content, such as newsletters, blog posts, social posts, and other communications channels that build support for the Society across the province.

➡️ Prepare NBSPCA news releases and monitor relevant media channels.

➡️ Responsibility for the development and management of a budget for all fundraising, marketing and communications activities on behalf of the Society. As an ethical fundraising professional and leader, ensure compliance with all Society’s gift acceptance policies and those set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

➡️ Direct or participate in negotiations for complex, high profile, or sensitive gift agreement as needed.


Qualifications & Required Skills


➡️ CFRE designation or equivalent of education and experience in fundraising, marketing and communications or a related field.

➡️ Five (5+) years of relevant fundraising experience.

➡️ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

➡️ French language skills would be an asset.

➡️ Excellent judgment, discretion and interpersonal skills.

➡️ Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and drive collaboration across multiple areas of the organization

➡️ Strong leadership and personal initiative; willing to build from the ground up in a hands-on way.

➡️ Demonstrated experience working directly with senior leaders in an organization on external communications and public relations preferred.

➡️ Strong strategic and practical knowledge of fundraising and social marketing tools and programs in-market that would be an asset to the Society.

➡️ Demonstrated success managing a recent portfolio of major individual gifts through the process of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

➡️ This position requires a flexible schedule. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

➡️This position may be filled at a lower level depending on a candidate’s training and experience.
