Job Description

The GPO is looking for a politically experienced, strategic thinking, motivated and highly collaborative Director of Communications to lead a dedicated team working towards electing more Green MPPs in the next provincial election. As a member of the leadership team, you will work directly with our Caucus and senior staff. You’ll play an important role in the execution of our strategic communications plan. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Ontario Greens As a Director of Communications you will be responsible for: Strategic Planning Provide coordinated, timely and accurate information, strategic advice and assistance to the party leadership Monitor and evaluate performance indicators for both internal and external channels Provide oversight for all communications Messaging and content development Clarify GPO brand and brand image amongst stakeholders/audiences, and identify areas for growth Develop communications themes, slogan, core messaging and specialized messaging for target audiences Conduct regular situational analysis (media/issues scanning, social media analysis). Responsible for content development for all channels, including:

Press releases, statements, blogs, op eds Design and production of print materials Social media and website Internal communications and fundraising support

Media Relations Ensure the team builds and maintains good relationships with provincial and regional media Issues management: identify issues, trends or conditions that affect the Party, and provide risk analysis Manage Supervise, coach, inspire and motivate the communications team Evaluate, recommend and manage resource allocation Grow, lead and manage a communications team and its resources to translate strategy into a consistent action plan Qualifications: 3 years of political experience as a senior manager in a communications position A strategic thinker and project manager with the ability to set priorities. Proven ability to grow reach, deliver results and manage in high pressure environments Ability to lead and motivate a team and to foster a collaborative working environment. Ability to communicate persuasively Understanding of and interest in Ontario politics Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at one time under pressure Adaptable to a changing schedule, and ability to think on your feet Passion & commitment to social and environmental change in Ontario Proficiency in French and/or other languages an asset Application Instructions: Send your resume & cover letter as
