The opportunityThe Director, Legal Counsel - Canada Intellectual Property will be responsible for developing and implementing IP strategy for Teva’s generic products for the Canadian market, will advise senior R&D and commercial colleagues, and will manage Canadian IP litigation (innovative and generic).The position is located at Teva Canada headquarters in Toronto or Montreal, Canada.How you’ll spend your dayKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement generic IP strategy for Teva products in the Canadian marketDetermine patent certification, exclusivity and carve-out strategy and tactics for ANDS submissions in CanadaProviding portfolio management and R&D with clearance advice for generic products and advise Commercial/Launch Teams on potential product launch datesSupporting value-generating business initiatives with patent dispute risk, avoidance, and resolution adviceManage Canadian patent litigation (innovative and generic), assist in development of claims and defensesOversee external counsel, including work product, budget, and invoicesParticipate in and/or lead various legal tasks/projects within the greater International Markets environment when neededCollaborate with other regional and global Legal, Commercial, Portfolio, Regulatory and R&D leaders to ensure alignment and consistency in strategy and operationsFoster the “Legal Tone” for our ethical behaviour, integrity, compliance standards and policies Establish and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities to stay informed about changes and advocate for the companys interests.Other projects and duties as required/assignedYour experience and qualificationsLaw degree (JD or LLB) from a reputable Canadian and admitted to practice in at least one province (admission to Ontario or Quebec preferred). Degree in life sciences-related field an asset.A minimum 8 years’ experience in intellectual property, in private practice or a combination of private practice and in house counsel.Prior experience in pharmaceutical patent opinion work is essentialExperience litigating Canada NOC cases required. Track record of successful achievements and progressionMust be a member in good standing of a provincial bar in Ontario and/or QuebecExcellent skills in drafting and editing legal documentsSelf-starter, superior organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasksAbility to work under pressure, balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of healthcare, Market Trends, Regulatory, Competitors & Customer InsightsAlready Working @TEVA?If you are a current Teva employee, please apply using the internal career site available on "Employee Central".
