Director, Information Technology  -  this position is located in Calgary, AB 

ROLE STATEMENT:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Information Technology is the leader of the Company’s Information Technology (IT) department and is responsible for the effective planning and execution of its IT functions, including oversight of IT operations, applications, data analytics and cyber security as well as the timely and cost effective stewardship of new IT solutions to address the evolving needs of Calfrac’s business stakeholders.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the internal business stakeholders, senior executive team, and external IT providers to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company’s information technology systems.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the IT team through fostering a culture of effective customer service and innovation, while also prioritizing the professional growth of individual team members.
  • Effectively analyze the business technology requirements for internal clients and provide viable technical solution alternatives and recommendations.
  • Ensure the consistency and effective maintenance of existing applications through the development and enforcement of proper standards, procedures and governance for implementing new technical solutions.
  • Develop, monitor, and modify, as necessary, the Company’s IT strategy and annual objectives that align with Calfrac’s overall strategic priorities.
  • Advise the senior executive team and, where applicable, the board of directors on the implementation of IT best practices.
  • Adapts IT platforms to enhance the user experience.
  • Participates in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
  • Liaises between business users and IT personnel related to systems design, configuration, testing and deployment.
  • Performs salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and / or replacement personnel.
  • Responsible for the budgeting and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets for the IT department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience working in or an understanding of oilfield services industry.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience within information technology in global company with at least five years of senior IT leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or related experience
