Job Description
The Opportunity
Manulife’s Global Data Governance team is growing and expanding its mandate to include data quality management. We are looking for a strong leader to help shape the new function and drive adoption of the data quality framework, standard methodologies and supporting technologies across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Guide and support the deployment of a data governance agenda globally
to accelerate trust and utilization of data
Define and continuously refine global data quality framework
; drive adoption of the framework by developing playbooks, accelerators and training the appropriate partners in data quality concepts
Influence leaders in data governance roles
across the organization to secure their collaboration and sponsorship of the initiatives aimed at improving the quality of our data
Analyze data
in the business context to identify critical data elements and set-up metrics linking data quality to business value
Lead efforts to
address high-priority data quality issues
from issue identification through root cause analysis to issue resolution
Design global data quality metrics and oversight mechanisms
to ensure delivery of target outcomes through the Data Governance program
Promote a data-driven culture through data literacy programs and communication.
Organize training sessions, workshops locally and cross-region
In partnership with Technology teams, support
adoption of the data quality technology
in the Azure Cloud environment as well as for on-prem applications
Serve as a liaison
between the Global Data Governance team and our Segment Data offices, Data Owners and Control Partners (Information Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy, Legal) to ensure that data quality requirements are defined, captured, and communicated
Innovate
and continuously improve our data governance practices;
review new and existing data governance technologies and capabilities to ensure optimized, value-driven outcomes. Explore, document and present solution alternatives that improve processes and business outcomes.

What we are looking for
8+ years of data governance and data management related experience in a large multinational organization, with 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
Experience operating across geographies and lines of business, financial and insurance industry experience preferred
Strong influencer, able to effectively communicate with both technology and business leaders at the most senior level
Extensive expertise in data governance concepts and technologies. Hands-on experience using one or more leading data quality software products at scale
Experience in putting together and securing approvals for a case in support of the data related initiatives
Familiarity with foundational data architecture concepts and Cloud technology
Strong problem-solver, able to pull together a task force united by a common goal and lead a team to results in a matrixed organizational structure
Practical experience with data wrangling, analytics, dashboard design. Knowledge and experience of AI/ML technologies and approaches is a plus
Training and experience in Agile techniques, product approach
Experience and capability in translating non-technical user requests into complex technical specifications and solutions that meet these requirements

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
