Job DescriptionReporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Director of Finance is a key conduit in executing and achieving strategic finance objectives. The Director, Finance will lead a team of 9, responsible for financial operation, reporting, and planning and analysis. You will be joining a team looking to scale up the strategic analysis capabilities, further streamline the financial and management reporting process, and establish best practices for governance and financial controls. The role will oversee the controllership function, which includes the day to day financial operational matters, lead the monthly close process and be a vital contributor in the planning cycle. Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the Director, Finance will has exposure to strategic initiatives and projects to drive profitability.ResponsibilitiesExecute the road map to improve the efficiency of the finance operations team by leveraging business process outsourcing, process automation and technologyEnhance and monitor financial operations, reporting, tax planning/compliance, governance and risk processesLiaison with business unit leaders to develop business cases, modelling and analysis to support the strategy and financial planning functionDeliver accurate and timely internal & external financial and management reports that cater to business requirements, enabling effective insights and responsible fiscal management, tailored to the various stakeholder groups as appropriateProvide valuable business insights and trending to inform financial strategy. Support the preparation of monthly presentations, financial reports, KPIs and analysis for the Leadership teamLead continuous improvement initiatives including implementing accounting automation tools to streamline reporting processes, reduce manual entries, enhance reporting accuracy, address process gaps aggressively to ensure integrity of transactional entries and participate in company initiatives to drive improvementsLead month-end, year end, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements with attention on optimizing process and adding efficienciesAd hoc project management as requiredPeople Management:A low ego, established leadership style, promoting a culture of teamwork, strong communication of key milestones, and motivating the team to achieve higher resultsMaintain a “Best in Class” finance team that can evolve quickly in a very fast paced environment and believes in efficient collaboration across the organizationCollaborate effectively with the VP, Finance at Kensington Tours and Group Finance to execute on key deliverablesEffective change & project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet strict deadlinesQualificationsBachelor of Commerce / Business Administration is requiredCanadian accounting designation (CPA) is required5+ years of controllership and financial planning & analysis experience; having previously managed the controllership and FP&A functions in a large/complex organizationStrong knowledge of accounting principles, governance best practices, financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and reportingIntermediate/Advanced level Excel and PowerPoint skillsAbility to adapt and work in a fast paced organizational environmentPrior hands-on experience maintaining and using accounting ERP systems, MS Dynamics, MS Navision, Business Central is an assetUnderstanding of consolidation accounting including intercompany transactions/reconciliations, FX translations is highly preferredOther Skills Required:Exceptional written and verbal communication and analytical skillsProven ability to present to executive level managementHighly functional in a fast paced, constantly changing entrepreneurial environmentAbility to work through conflict and build trust both upwards and downwardsAttention to detail, efficient time-management, and effective planning skills with the ability to quickly adapt to multiple and often changing schedules and priorities in a deadline driven environmentWe are committed to providing employment accommodation in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
