Job Description

The Director Enterprise Risk Management, as a member of Enterprise Risk Analytics team, is responsible for enterprise wide risk management processes and process management for operations integration.

Responsibilities

  • Manages business continuity framework, operational resilience strategy, third-party risk management, and other RGA Canada-wide processes.
  • Monitor, assess, and propose implementation strategy for new and/or changing regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating policies under the responsibility of the CRO.
  • Monitor, and/or measure, and/or analyse risk metrics.
  • Assist in the production of various Risk Reports.
  • Promote operational resiliency by mitigating vulnerabilities associated with critical processes and developing contingency plans.
  • Reinforce all key concepts of business Continuity/Operational Resilience, including program management, risk awareness, identification & prioritization of critical functions/processes, recovery strategies, training and awareness and exercising/testing.
  • Participate in Site Crisis Management Team
  • Understand key contractual obligations that could be impacted by a disruption.
  • Help ensure consistent and reliable application of risk management framework and policies across business areas, including business continuity management, cyber and IT recovery.
  • Educate and train business on risk management frameworks and associated risk policies and guidance.
  • Assist in Operational Risk Management oversight, including oversight over outsourced activities.

Process Management, Operations Integration (25-30%)

  • Responsible for mapping of enterprise processes, IT architecture and systems integration requirements.
  • Identify, understand, and document interdependencies of internal business processes, business applications and IT infrastructure, third parties, and facilities (including remote workers).
  • Partners with business leaders to design operational strategies that meet the end-to-end data-flow requirements.
  • Support inter-depart and/or multi-department process changes to improve efficiency, improve resiliency, and/or reduce operational risk.
  • Promote (and/or be responsible for) documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Streamline communication and collaboration between relevant stakeholders inside and outside the enterprise for area under management.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration, accounting, actuarial mathematics/actuarial science or any related field.
  • 7+ years experience in finance industry in roles such as finance, valuation, operations, process management, enterprise risk management and/or related fields.
  • 3+ years experience in regulatory compliance, internal/external audit, compliance, operational risk management or other relevant risk management/controls assessment experience.

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years in insurance/reinsurance industry
  • Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Planner (ABCP) designation
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or some other applicable industry certification on process optimization

  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working in a matrix structure with many different stakeholders
  • Ability for persuasion and negotiation.
  • Proficient in both English and French, spoken and written, as all the work is with international/English counterparts
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members.
