Reports to: Senior Director, Merchandise Planning

Location: North Vancouver, BC, On-Site

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

The Director, Demand Planning leads a team of planners in enabling the organization to achieve its Long-Term Strategic Plan (LTSP). You develop the company’s demand plan and inventory strategy to improve product availability while minimizing excess inventory for our Wholesale, Professional, and International Business Units. Additionally, you work closely with our Direct to Consumer Merchandise Planning team to ensure cross-functional alignment of our buying strategies and effective omni-channel inventory management and to maximize fulfillment of our wholesale order book.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-location.

Meet Your Future Team:

Demand Planners are the Buyers of the Wholesale sales channels and work closely with global commercial teams to build sales and inventory plans that deliver our strategic financial targets. As the leader of the Demand Planning function, you set the pace and process of this work and ensure alignment with all cross-functional partners.


If you were in the Director, Demand Planning role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
  • Building and guiding a high performing Demand Planning team with the core competencies and capabilities in delivering a world class inventory management
  • Developing a short, mid, and long-term Demand Planning roadmap and org structure
  • Supporting Regional Commercial leaders in developing forecasting best practices and working with Sales Operations to improve sell-in processes
  • Generating demand plans by region and channel that reflect our commercial and financial targets
  • Managing your regional/channel inventory in support of key company metrics and KPIs
  • Building principles on depth requirements to support pre-season and in-season sales
  • Determining ideal inventory mix by region/channel
  • Working with Regional Wholesale teams to develop a multi-year key account and channel roadmap
  • Upholding Fair Labour Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

  • Developing S&OP Demand processes
  • Evolving Wholesale Allocations and order book management processes
  • Working on future Demand Planning and End-to-End Planning processes and tools projects
  • Building out long range strategic plans
Are you our next Director, Demand Planning?
  • You have a Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Math, or Statistics
  • You have 10+ Years leadership experience in Demand or Merchandise Planning
  • You combine a strong understanding of sales and inventory forecasting best practices with highly developed analytical skills and business savviness
  • You have experience operating in a global, multi-channel business, ideally one which is DTC lead with strong wholesale experience
  • You are an experienced leader who builds consensus and who is not afraid to make decisions and knows when to follow the lead of your peers and team.
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it

$146,000 - $182,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $146,000 - $182,000 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
