Job Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance and Deputy CFO, the Director, Corporate Finance is a multi-disciplinary leader responsible for enabling the achievement of HHS strategic objectives by providing a framework for capital finance, treasury management and long-range planning.

HHS operates in a sector where funding and financial resources are consistently constrained. As the organization’s ability to effectively allocate resources continues to be challenging, by providing leadership and financial accountability for capital projects, equipment expenditures, redevelopments and strategic initiatives across Hamilton Health Science, the Director will develop, interpret, plan and execute complex financial models, accounting concepts and policies for financial planning, control, and decision-making.

The Director, Corporate Finance plans, organizes and controls the treasury operations, including cash and debt management, interest rates, short-term investments of operating and redevelopment funds, foreign exchange requirements, and other financing activities. The Director is also responsible for working in partnership with Administrative and Clinical Support program leadership on financial management, stewardship, forecasting, modelling, and business case development, as well as playing an integral role in multiple cross-functional projects.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement, in accordance with HHS’ Remote Work Policy.

Qualifications

· Professional financial designation (must) – CPA or CFA

· Post-Secondary degree in Business/Commerce/Accounting

· Master’s Degree (MBA), or CFA Will Be Preferred

· Progressive financial management (5-10 years) experience

· Minimum 3 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Vendor Negotiations

· Minimum 3 years’ experience of people management

· Managed at least $100M or more financial modelling

· Advanced communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)

· Demonstrated experience with GAAP & PSAS

· Highly developed negotiating skills (ie vendor terms, banking, financing)

· Demonstrated management and leadership skills

· Strong working knowledge of regulatory issues impacting Financial departments in the health care sector

· Adequate knowledge of financial markets, including their impact on key interest and foreign exchange rates

· Proven ability to problem solve and manage projects with regular reporting to Executive Leadership teams
