Reporting directly to the VP Legal Affairs and Risk Management, the Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance is a key member in ensuring Company adherence to legal, regulatory and standards compliance requirements.

What you will do:

The Director, Compliance and Quality Assurance will maintain an enterprise risk management program and will work with the business leaders in adhering to its requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring effective processes are in place for identifying, assessing, strategizing and monitoring known and emerging risks.

Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure relevant internal company policies are in place to support compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Audit all business contracts to ensure that these are in compliance and records are accurately maintained.
  • Regularly assess company operations to identify compliance risks. This involves evaluating processes, practices, and documents to pinpoint possible weaknesses or areas of concern.
  • Oversee business audits to identify potential noncompliance situations.
  • Communicate with employees to ensure awareness of their responsibilities in complying with both internal and external laws and regulations.
  • Support information security programs and initiatives, and support SOC 2 security program
  • Ensure regulatory and legislative changes are implemented effectively by the relevant business
  • Ensure privacy laws and regulations are adhered to
  • Monitor and assess E&O potential claims, as well as other claims
  • Ensure business continuity plans and programs are in place functioning and tested, including disaster recovery and cyber response plans.
  • Ensure all corporate and individual licensing is current and valid
  • Regularly report on overall business compliance programs
Reports
  • Senior Business Auditor
  • Close collaboration with QA team members in the business functions
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as business administration, finance, law, or a related discipline.
  • 10 years or more of risk management experience or equivalent, preferably in a financial services or insurance setting
  • Knowledge of Applied Epic preferred
  • Knowledge of MS apps, including Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA) is an asset
  • Designation such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) is an asset.
  • Proven understanding audit standards and methodologies use to apply risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk management principles
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with employees, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple priorities and requests.
  • Highly focused with attention to detail and ability to collaborate well with others.
