Services Engineering is a key function of Services NAM (Americas). The function provides engineering expertise and technical solutions to the various Business Units (BU) of Services. We support Operations and Maintenance (O&M) sites, as well as lead the design efforts for Asset Life Management (Modernizations, upgrades, overhauls of rail vehicles) and support the Parts Obsolescence BU. We provide engineering support to all products maintained by Alstom that operate in the North American market (automated people movers, light rail vehicles, commuters, metros, locomotives…), as well as several of the infrastructure components (guideways, stations, depots, electrification and power distribution). We are 160 professionals, located in 17 different sites across the continent.

Alstom has an opening for a Digital Monitoring Center (DMC) Data Engineer Internship. This internship offer is for an on-site position located at our St-Bruno DMC site, on the south shore of Montréal, for a duration of 4 months starting in September 2024. In Alstom Services, our focus is to provide excellence in customer support and develop innovative mobility solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help provide a second line of technical support for data analysis by developing data analysis scripts using programming languages such as Python and R Studio.
  • Help develop dashboards and KPIs and using data reporting tool Tableau embeded in Alstom's Health Hub service.
  • Become familiar with Legacy and Alstom digital solutions in prognostics (predictive maintenance), data analytics (trends, correlations across multiple sites and products), Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), and remote telematic sensors (Motes, Netbox, Alphabox, LoRA…) data collection and analysis
  • Program alerts and data mining algorithms using Alstom digital tools such as Healthub and Orbiflo
  • Provide data supporting the optimization of the fleet maintenance regime

REQUIRED PROFILE:

  • Internship cursus for Bachelor degree in Engineering (Railway, electronics or software preferred) or Computer Science or any other pertinent Bachelor degree with an interest in data analysis 
  • Familiar with digital technology and high interrest in Data analysis or embedded CBM automation data monitoring industry
  • Knowledge of programming language such as Python, R Studio, C++, Java, VBA
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Tableau / Power BI an asset
  • Fluent in English and French
  • High degree of self-motivation and autonomous
  • Problem solving attitude: the candidate has to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Good analytical skills
