The Role

Working alongside Application Sales & Operations, the EHT Designer is primarily responsible for Electrical Heat Tracing (EHT) design review and verification of constant watt MIQ applications. Creation of MIQ fabrication sheets and EHT quotations for industrial projects. The EHT designer reports directly to the Supervisor, Application Sales.


What You Will Do

  • Support creation of MIQ fabrication sheets for manufacture of series resistance heat tracing.
  • Review external and internal designs, drawings and other supporting IFC documentation for the creation of MIQ fabrication sheets.
  • Work along side Order Management and Planning teams and collaborate on the progress and completion of fabrication sheets for customer and affiliate orders.
  • Review engineered drawings packages for technical feedback when required, as related to EHT Design.
  • Assist in the preparation of electrical heat tracing material quotations based on preliminary sketches, piping isometrics, specifications, and other available information.
  • Manage and maintain fabrication sheet and quotation folders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on RFI inquiries related to the technical requirements of MIQ orders and quotations.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Electrical EHT design experience
  • Proficient working with EHT design software's (CompuTrace)
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Customer focused. Able to understand the customer's application and provide solutions and quotations that meet the customer's requirements
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes
  • Ability to identify potential problems and resolve problems diplomatically
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Requirements and skills

  • 1-3 years industry experience in EHT design and/or bachelor's degree in technical field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of T-Class, Hazardous locations, and equipment ratings.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry products, standards, and certifications; IEEE-515, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, FM, etc.
  • Engineering software (CompuTrace) and engineering skills is a major asset
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook and Excel
  • EHT Estimating experience in medium to large sized electrical construction projects and a current knowledge of electrical, building codes and regulations, is an asset.
