Location: London, Ontario, Canada Design Engineer (Senior) - Mechanical SystemsTHE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TYPE DESIGN CHANGES AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING THE CREATION AND REVIEW OF CERTIFICATION PLANS, DESIGNS, DRAWINGS, TEST PLANS & REPORTS, DESIGN REVIEWS, CALCULATIONS & ANALYSIS, AND COMPLIANCE REPORTS RELATED TO AIRCRAFT MECHANICAL, POWERPLANT, FUEL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS.ResponsibilitiesSupport the mechanical engineering specialists, and mentor intermediate/junior engineers as requiredImplement type design and/or manufacturing process changes related to aircraft mechanical, propulsion and fuel systems to improve, quality, safety, and performance of aeronautical productsReview engineering change requests and participate in the classification of type design changesDevelop certification plans for changes to existing type designs or new aeronautical productsCreate and review test plans, analysis reports, design reviews and other substantiating documentsDesign and prepare flight test change orders for test aircraft modifications and installation of test equipmentParticipate in testing (ground & flight), perform post-test analysis, create and review test reportsGenerate and review compliance reports to document compliance to the regulationsDevelop and review engineering, material, and process specificationsCoordinate with TCCA and/or delegates as required throughout the type design change approval processSupport Continuing Airworthiness activities including review of technical publications and investigation of occurrences and service difficultiesParticipate in research and development activities for new products or designs.Other duties as assignedSkills10 years relevant Aerospace Engineering experience in aeronautical product developmentKnowledgeable in Airworthiness Manual Chapter 523 of the Canadian Aviation RegulationsExperience performing type design changes to aeronautical productsFamiliar with FADEC engine control systems and softwareKnowledgeable in aircraft controls, landing gear, powerplants, fuel and hydraulic systemsExperience with CATIA V5, AutoCAD / DraftSight, and Solid EdgeProficiency in MS Office products and collaboration toolsWorks well within a team environmentCapable of independent decision makingAble to prioritize tasks based on company needsPrevious or current delegation experience with a civil aviation authority is an assetPrevious MRB authority is considered an assetProfessional Engineering Licence is an assetPrivate pilot license is an assetAcademic Requirements:Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Aerospace and/or Mechanical EngineeringWe offer a market-standard salary based on your professional and personal suitability.If you are interested in this challenging position, we are looking forward receiving your application!
