Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Design Automation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in 3d CAD design and the automation of design tasks using AutoDesk APIs in Inventor and associated PDM tools, as well as APIs in various other tools such ERP and PLM tools. They will also have experience managing CAD tools and licensing.
Duties and Responsibilities of the “Design Automation Specialist”
· Programming for automation of design tasks
o Automation of various aspects of transformer design, working in close collaboration with the design teams, using API programming in various programs including the 3d CAD tool, PDM and PLM tools, ERP, and others.
o Support and debug existing automation
o Supporting existing automation with the ERP tool and make enhancements to support further advancement of the level of design automation.
o Documentation of Automation and maintenance of solutions and architecture for the future evolution of the automation methods and supports, for the benefit of users and management
o Work and coordinate with VARs and external suppliers to further automation and support tasks
o Support iLogic or API efforts by qualified design team members and work with them to develop further solutions.
· Manage design software licences
o Manage 3D CAD, PDM, PLM and other design software licences for the organization, including renewals and administering usage.
Qualifications:
· Engineering degree, either in Mechanical Engineering or software engineering, or equivalent work experience
· 5+ years of experience in 3d Mechanical Design and working with API programming in CAD and other packages
· Excellent computer skills, specifically 3d CAD preferably Inventor, API programming, ERP tools, and regular office software
· Excellent programming skills, including structured and documented approaches
· Excellent organizational skills, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
· Strong people skills – mentoring, motivating, empathic, and fact-based
· Language: Good written and spoken English and willing to continuously improve English skills
· Willing to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, within easy commuting distance to Northern Transformer facilities
