Job Description

Overview

As the Data Governance Specialist you will provide expertise and oversight relating to the delivery of data governance and stewardship. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing processes that ensure effective control and use of our data assets.

Responsibilities Develop proposals outlining strategies within a framework on how to address data governance needs or issues. Collaborate with the Manager, Business Analytics, to provide oversight on additional analysis that can drive changes that benefit the data management and data security operations. Protect our enterprise data assets through controls for the availability, quality, usability, integrity, consistency, auditability and security of data. Establish corporate wide metadata capabilities working with operational managers and the corporate data and analytics functions to continue to develop the data dictionary and business data glossary. Responsible for the enterprise ability to respond efficiently and consistently to regulatory requirements about data. Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement. Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics or a related discipline. Completed or current coursework related to data governance and/or data management is an asset. Working knowledge and/or Certification on DAMA or DCAM is considered an asset. Four (4) years of progressive experience in data analysis, of which one (1) year is in data policy and/or governance. Working knowledge of managing and augmenting business data glossaries and data dictionaries. Proven political acumen and commitment to confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Employee Benefits
