As a Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in extracting meaningful and actionable insights from large datasets, providing support to business stakeholders, contributing to data-driven decision-making processes, and ensuring the integrity of our data. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with a strong foundation in SQL and possesses excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Performance Requirements & Expectations:

Power BI / Service

  • Discover, collect, clean, interpret, manipulate, and analyze large complex data sets, while creating maps, visualizations, models, dashboards, and reports to present data, formulate solutions and make recommendations.
  • Develop, update, manage and troubleshoot reports for various stakeholders in response to business requests.

SQL / DLCPM

  • Providing support to the analytics team by managing, tracking, and maintaining databases across all lab locations.
  • Ensuring standardization across databases by writing scripts and/or advanced procedures.
  • Developing strategies to identify and highlight inconsistencies across data, while implementing protocols to maintain data integrity and consistency.
  • Monitoring and providing timely details regarding issues and resolution steps to the appropriate internal teams.

Process Improvement and SOPs (Technical Documentation)

  • Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the development of efficient operating procedures.
  • Create technical documents and/or SOPs for existing processes, methods, and models to ensure stakeholders have the necessary understanding and context, while promoting business continuity.
  • Develop, update and maintain change logs and other documentation to effectively manage version control in line with progress of assigned projects and initiatives.

Ongoing Learning / Professional Development

  • Have a demonstrated interest in learning and upskilling, while proactively seeking new and innovative solutions to resolve business challenges.
  • Identify learning paths, courses, and a robust plan for our internal stakeholders to assist them in developing competencies and knowledge associated with our projects.

Organizational Support / Collaboration

  • Contribute to organizational data projects while providing analysis and support to stakeholders in order to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Communicate the results and provide guidance on the use and interpretation of relevant data sources while contributing towards the resolution of issues with the analytics team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide analytical recommendations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience using SQL with advanced SQL proficiency.
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

Demonstrated Accomplishments

  • Experience with optimizing queries and improving model performance.
  • Experience in managing, handling, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, integrity, and database design principles.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preference

  • Experience with managing and administrating databases (indexing, monitoring, partitioning, security, backups) is preferred.
  • Experience deploying modern data solutions leveraging components in Azure is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Data/Business Analyst or Database Administrator (or related function) is preferred.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience and/or interest in automation technologies and process improvements.
  • Experience and/or interest in data lakes/warehousing tools and techniques.
  • Experience with DevOps TFS/Git is considered an asset.
  • Experience with R / Python is considered an asset.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is considered an asset.
