Start Date:To be determinedStatus:Permanent, Full TimeApplication Deadline: Sunday July 7, 2024 @ 11:59PMSalary:$89,785 (Starting) to $108,573 (at 30 Months)Position Summary:The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect London Police Service (LPS) computer systems, networks, and data. They will analyze security logs, conduct risk assessments, and develop and implement strategies to minimize vulnerabilities and mitigate potential cyber threats effectively.Responsibilities:Identify and address vulnerabilities in London Police Service (LPS) systems and networks.Prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and potential impact.Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.Collaborate with IT teams to implement patches, updates, and configuration changes.Provide recommendations for improving overall IT system security.Develop, enforce, and update IT security policies.Draft comprehensive IT security strategies, policies, and procedures.Regularly review and update policies to align with industry standards.Conduct audits to ensure compliance with IT security policies.Provide guidance and education to staff on policy adherence and best practices.Monitor and respond to potential IT security incidents.Monitor IT security alerts and logs for abnormal activities.Investigate and analyze IT security incidents to determine the nature and scope of the threat.Develop and execute incident response plans to contain and mitigate IT security breaches.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate response efforts.Foster a security-conscious culture through training and awareness programs.Develop and deliver IT security training sessions for employees.Create and distribute educational materials on IT security best practices.Conduct simulated phishing exercises to assess and improve employee awareness.Collaborate with HR to ensure new hires receive proper IT security onboarding.Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.Requirements:2-3 years’ post-secondary education in Information Technology, or equivalent.CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.3-4 years’ experience in Information Technology.Strong problem-solving skills and judgement required to make decisions from numerous/broader range of alternatives covered by standards and precedents of a general nature; for producing a wide range of products requiring a high degree of accuracy and close tolerances; and for maintaining highly technical equipment.Excellent communication skills for regular contact with LPS members, contractors, and vendors to give, obtain, and/or exchange, and/or discuss technical information or decisions requiring discussion or explanation to ensure full understanding, with tact, self-control, and persuasiveness.Benefits/Pension:Medical, Dental, and Vision, Life Insurance, Pension Plan (OMERS), Employee Family Assistance Plan, and on-site Fitness Facilities.Hours of Duty:Day Shift; Monday - FridayApplication Process:Please refer to the “How to Apply” page on our website for application instructions. We thank all applicants for their interest in the London Police Service; however, only those selected will be contacted.London Police Service is committed to creating and fostering a diverse and progressive workforce that is representative of the citizens that we serve.
