Title: Crop Management Supervisor (Full-time/Permanent/Salaried)

Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Crop Management Supervisor plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the food safety and agronomic operations according to established standards.
Sound management skills and knowledge of the material and equipment needed are an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and advise on crop cultivation and fertilization, harvesting, pest prevention and management, and other agricultural subjects
- Conduct research trials, analyze agricultural data and prepare research reports
- Liaise with researchers, educators and government or business managers on matters pertaining to farming and agriculture
- Supervise the production programs to respect and ensure compliance with our organic and conventional certification bodies.
- Manage the farm food safety program to respect and ensure compliance with GAP in collaboration with the Food Safety Coordinator (QC)
- Participate in continuous improvement meetings and follow up on specific projects
- Maintain compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, policies and procedures
- Participate in flash meetings and production meetings
- Perform other related operational tasks as needed
DIRECT REPORTS:
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- College Diploma or University Degree in Horticultural Production, Food Science, Agriculture, or equivalent experience.
- Registered as a Professional Agrologist with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists or immediately eligible for full registration upon employment
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in agricultural production operations
- People management/Leadership experience. Experience with Temporary Foreign Worker Programs.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficiency in spoken and written English. Spanish is an asset.
- Strong planning, decision making and prioritizing abilities
- Excellent communication skills are required to build relationships with internal customers and procurement.
- Ability to problem-solve and exercise independence of judgment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required during high seasonal workloads
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
This position requires extensive time sitting at a desk working on a computer during the off season; occasional time standing, frequent walking bending, reaching during the peak season; working conditions include working in an office within a production facility as well outdoor agricultural fields that may be hot, cold, wet, and/or windy. Requires the ability to work long hours during peak season and under pressure with a diverse employee culture.
