Your New Role

As a Corporate Legal Counsel , you will join the team in Western Canada. Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, your main objective will be to provide legal support to the company’s business divisions on commercial matters. You’ll work closely with the company’s commercial teams, negotiating, drafting, and reviewing various types of contractual agreements and business proposals. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you identify and mitigate potential legal and financial risks, particularly related to customer and supplier contracts. This full-time permanent position is based in Surrey office, with occasional travel required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • 3-5 years of post-call Corporate/Commercial Law experience (ideally in-house, also open to private practice) supplemented by an LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent) and good standing with a Canadian Law Society.
  • Proficiency in commercial negotiation, contract management, and contract law.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • A collaborative mindset, a sense of initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to simplify complex legal notions.
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
