About the Position:

The Corporate Controller supports Walter’s Group goals of growing the business and being an industry leader by providing effective leadership and high quality delivery to the financial functions of the organization. This includes conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports; maintaining and enhancing an effective system of accounting; managing the payroll system and ensuring organizational compliance by maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date records.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Day to Day Receivables Activities and Processing of Monthly Project Billings.
  • Financial Analysis and Preparation and Maintenance of Transfer Pricing Policies and transactions for the Walters Group of companies, Holding Companies and the Walters Partners’ group of companies.
  • Supports the VP Finance in the development and implementation of effective strategies to achieve revenue and profitability growth in each of the company’s product line segments - establishing and implementing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, that are clearly linked to Walter’s Group business goals.
  • People Leadership and creating/maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage direct reports (team of 8) including the coaching and mentoring of staff and team building.
  • Develop, implement, maintain policies, procedures, practices, and internal controls.
  • Preparation of monthly borrowing base and quarterly banking covenant calculation.
  • Provide management support to Operations and Sales.

Position Requirements:

  • A university degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with responsibility for an aspect of corporate financial affairs (compliance, audit and tax).
  • Experience in the steel manufacturing/construction industry is a strong asset.
  • Understanding of project accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate and manage computerized financial, & payroll information systems, spreadsheet and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for Walters Inc. vision and mission and commitment to working collaboratively with a team of senior professionals.
  • An individual who can handle a variety of constituencies, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with Great Plains.
  • Ability to work with all levels of Management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
